Soul Searching Self Care: Uncovering Your Inner Light

Navigating the world as a human can feel super feel-y at times and it can be easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of emotions and find ourselves feeling drained and lacking energy.
But fear not, my fellow soul-seekers, because today we're diving into the art of self-care, recharging our own batteries and finding activities that set our souls on fire!

​You see, self-care isn't meant to be just about pampering ourselves with occasional treats or indulgences.

It's meant to be about nurturing our inner being, tending to our emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being with the same diligence we give to our physical health.

At its core, self-care is a radical act of self-love and acceptance and it is an affirmation that we are worthy of joy.

Finding What Lights You Up

Each of us has unique passions, interests, and desires that ignite our souls. Self-care begins by identifying the activities, hobbies, and experiences that bring us genuine happiness and fulfillment.

Whether it's painting, hiking in nature, playing an instrument, or simply curling up with a good book or cup of tea, these are the moments that replenish our spirits and rejuvenate our souls.

By prioritizing your own well-being, you can become better equipped to show up fully in your relationships, work, and other responsibilities.

Make it a daily exploration and expression of your worth


Integrating self-care into your daily lives requires intentionality and commitment. Start by carving out dedicated time for activities that nourish your soul, even if it's just a few moments scattered throughout the day.

It’s also important to understand that self-care isn't just about what we do; it's also about how we do it.

Begin by practicing mindfulness and fully immersing yourself in the present moment during your chosen self-care activities. Really allow it to light up your soul and notice the sensations, emotions, and thoughts that arise - without judgment.

By cultivating presence, we deepen our connection to ourselves and experience greater joy in the simple pleasures of life.

Be patient as you shift your focus to your soulful wellbeing

Remember to be gentle with yourself on this journey. Self-care isn't about perfection; it's about progress. There will be days when life gets life-y, and self-care takes a back seat. In those moments, practice self-compassion rather than self-criticism.

Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding you would offer to a cherished friend.

This is how you can begin to live your worth intentionally

Keep a running list of things that Light Up Your Soul ✨

In my coaching sessions, I challenge my clients to compile a list of 30 (yes, you heard me right!) activities that bring them pure bliss and vitality. Because when you're feeling tired or overwhelmed or just plain sick of being a human, having a specially curated menu of options that can plug you back into the energy of Joy and Love is absolutely crucial. 

When we know how to source our own energy and Light Up Our Souls, we give ourselves the power to tap into the infinite energy of Joy and Love that are always present in our life. 

How do you Light Up Your Soul when no one else is around?

Now here's the kicker - and this is super important: The activities you do to Light Up Your Soul cannot depend on other people.

It's all too common to rely on external sources for happiness - whether it's your kids, your partner, or your friends. But what happens when they're not around?

How do you ignite your soul when it's just you?

That's where true self-care comes in - finding joy from within, without needing anyone else's energy to fuel your fire.

So, if you're ready to level up your worthiness game, I challenge you to create your own list.

Trust me, having it handy will be a game-changer next time you're feeling drained!

To kickstart your inspiration and get those creative juices flowing, here's a peek at my own personal soul-nourishing Light Up My Soul list:
  1. Snuggling up with Colby for some furry cuddles
  2. Getting lost in Brie's purrs
  3. Playing fetch with Stella and watching her zoom around
  4. Witnessing Lexi's excitement as she chases after her favorite toy
  5. Savoring a piping hot cup of Earl Grey perfection
  6. Finding peace in the presence of majestic trees
  7. Luxuriating in the bubbling waters of the hot tub
  8. Soaking up the rejuvenating heat of the infrared sauna
  9. Drifting off into dreamland with a blissful nap
  10. Lounging by any body of water, soaking in its tranquility
  11. Feeling the wind's gentle caress on my skin
  12. Getting serenaded by the soothing melodies of wind chimes
  13. Grooving to the beat of my favorite tunes
  14. Unleashing my inner dancer with hula hoop moves
  15. Laughing until my sides ache at a stand-up comedy show
  16. Dominating the lanes at the bowling alley
  17. Cozying up with a fluffy blanket
  18. Rocking funky and fun socks
  19. Indulging in the cheesy goodness of all things cheese
  20. Surrendering to the bliss of a heavenly foot rub
  21. Getting lost in the pages of a captivating book
  22. Setting the mood with aromatic incense
  23. Savoring a bowl of soul-warming soup
  24. Cruising with the windows down, wind in my hair
  25. Channeling my inner rockstar at karaoke night
  26. Basking in the warm glow of the sun
  27. Stargazing in awe at the night sky
  28. Gathering around a crackling bonfire with loved ones
  29. Roasting hot dogs over the fire, relishing the smoky flavor
  30. Letting loose a good ol' string of swear words (hey, sometimes you just gotta let it out!)
These simple pleasures may seem small, but trust me, they pack a powerful punch when it comes to rejuvenating our spirits and reminding us of life's beauty.

So, I challenge you to carve out some time for yourself and craft your own list of soul-nourishing activities. Let's prioritize self-care and embrace the joy that comes from within.

Remember, you are worthy of every moment of bliss and happiness. So go ahead, light up your soul and let that fire burn bright!
